The island has a vast range of places to eat out catering for just about everyone's needs. You will also find many bars open till late, live music venues and many places with excellent night life until the early hours!
The island and particularly Ermoupolis has very many shops making it possible to buy just about anything you could want!

Many of the tourist shops and some clothes / shoe shops may stay open later than 21:00 during the high season
During the winter months the morning opening times are as above - the evening opening times are from 17:00 to 20:00
There are numerous places where you can rent a car, motor bike or scooter. Don't forget you will need a valid Driving Licence and if you are from overseas you may be required to show your Passport! The island has 9 Filling Stations.
The island has a good bus service that goes around the island. The central bus station is close the main port. For information please telephone +30 22810 82575. The bus service is extended time-wise during the high season in the summer.
The island has 40 taxis. There are taxis that operate 24 hours every day of the year. Ermoupolis taxi stations are located in the in the main square in the center and by the roundabout close to the hospital. You can call a taxi on +30 22810 84222.
All of the banks are located in Ermoupolis and most have an ATM that accept most major cards. Please note there are NO ATM's outside of Ermoupolis except for one in Finikas and one in Galissas. The latter two may not be serviced off-season.
There are 3 major cell phone networks in Greece: Cosmote, WIND & Vodafone. If you are visiting to view the house from overseas and wish to use your cell phone here please ensure international roaming has been activated. Cell phone cards are widely available on Syros, usually at kiosks.
Syros has a general hospital with good facilities such as an ITU, MRI & CT scanners, operating theatre, A & E etc. If you are visiting from overseas it is advisable to ensure you have adequate medical & travel insurance.
Syros in also home to ONEX Nerion Shipyard which was established in 1861 and provides some of the local people with employment.
